| | Synopsis |
| | Sylvia's family carries the breast cancer gene. The camera |
| | accompanies Sylvia as she goes for a checkup to see if she |
| | herself carries the gene. What should she do if the results come |
| | back positive? Should she undergo an advanced double |
| | mastectomy on both healthy breasts? |
| | |
| | These are some of the issues our generation will have to |
| | contend with in the coming years. |
| | |
| | Assuming until now we were healthy unless proven otherwise, |
| | cracking the human genome will bring about an extremely |
| | dramatic change. We will know all our genetic flaws in advance. |
| | Our generation will know it is sick long before symptoms appear. |
| | |
| | |
| | The next generation can be born perfect, genetically speaking. It |
| | is possible to envision a world without disease or without slight |
| | flaws such as baldness or the need for glasses. What are the |
| | advantages and disadvantages of such a situation? What |
| | constitutes the red line beyond which it is no longer worth being |
| | born? |
| | |
| | Yuval and Matti, both hard of hearing, are about to have a baby. |
| | They are wavering over whether or not to abort the baby in case |
| | they find that he/she is deaf. Their deaf friends think being deaf |
| | is a positive singularity. On the other hand Gidi, who is short, has |
| | no reservations whatsoever. He claims the attitude towards the |
| | handicapped in Israel is so bad that they would have been better |
| | off not being born. |
| | |
| | Israel is the world leader in early fetal diagnosis - genetic testing, |
| | ultrasound and amniocentesis. |
